Report: Basque trio chase Garitano

Leganes Coach Asier Garitano is wanted by Basque trio Athletic Bilbao, Real Sociedad and Eibar, according to reports in the Spanish press.

The 48-year-old has been at the helm of Los Pepineros since 2013 and has led them to two promotions, consolidated the club in the top flight and led them to the Copa del Rey semi-finals.

A report in El Desmarque now states he is a target for each of the Basque clubs, who could be readying managerial changes this summer.

Jose Angel Ziganda is under increasing pressure at San Mames having replaced Ernesto Valverde last summer, with his side languishing in the bottom half of the standings.

La Real have struggled too under Eusebio Sacristan this season and like Athletic Club, have long been out of the race for a European spot.

Eibar Coach Jose Luis Mendilibar has emerged as a candidate for each of those positions amid speculation and uncertainty around his own future, with his contract expiring this summer.

Garitano now looks set for a move to the Basque country this summer as a managerial merry-go-round looks set to get underway.
