Zidane: Ronaldo ‘from another galaxy’

Zinedine Zidane claims Cristiano Ronaldo “is from another galaxy” after his brace during Real Madrid’s 2-1 win at Eibar on Saturday.

Ronaldo’s match-winning display took him to 33 goals in all competitions for the season, one more than Lionel Messi, and Zidane was relieved his Portuguese superstar was on the pitch as Eibar were “clearly better” than his Madrid side.

“It’s a very special win, although they were clearly better than us and had a great game, especially in the first half,” the Coach said after the game.

“We know that this pitch is very complicated. They’re having a good season, fighting for Europe, so we knew we had to suffer.

“We suffered with the ball, but we knew that we had other things to give. With character and fight, we got three more points.

“Bale and Isco? They had an uncomfortable game, but so did everyone else. Eibar made it difficult for us to play our usual game, but when things don’t go well, you need character to win a match.

“Ronaldo? He’s from another galaxy. He’s a special player. His numbers speak for themselves.

“Eibar deserved more. I don’t know if the result was fair, but we’re happy with the three points.

“La Liga is still possible and we’ll keep going. We have to keep picking up three points if we want that to remain the case.

“This team have deserved their last two results. We haven’t dropped our shoulders, even when things were going badly.

“Now what we have to do is rest for a few days and detach ourselves from football.”
