Legendary Real Betis goalkeeper Toni Prats has given his seal of approval to the club’s attempts to sign Espanyol shot-stopper Pau Lopez.
Lopez, 23, has established himself as first choice shot-stopper at the RCDE Stadium this campaign, starting 19 of the club’s La Liga outings, but is out of contract in June.
“If we (Betis) do end up signing Pau, then I am sure he will be a success,” Prats – who played for Los Verdiblancos between 1996 and 2005 – told Cope Sevilla.
“He has many qualities as a goalkeeper and those which match the needs of the team and additionally, he has lots of room for improvement.
“We have enjoyed a good season, we have had lots of excellent results and performances but also I recognise that many times we have not had the right balance in our team.
“I believe the team can qualify for Europe, for sure.
“Would I want to return to the club in some capacity? Of course, it would be an honour!”
