Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Julian Draxler has lamented his side’s failing to progress in the Champions League after ‘spending €400m’.
The German midfielder pointed out the amount spent by the club as an indicator for the relative failure of being eliminated from the competition at the first knockout round.
“We deserved to go out, we were not good enough,” Draxler told reporters, as cited by Diario Sport.
“We spent €400m and we were all told everything was going to change and we would be winning these titles, but again we have lost at this stage again.
“If you lose the first leg 3-1 you must press them, especially at home and with our fans, not just to pass the ball around because that was not going to work.”
