Courtois contract talks delayed

Chelsea remain positive on the future of Thibaut Courtois but contract talks have stalled amid reported interest from Real Madrid.

A report in the London Evening Standard clarifies how talks with the Belgian had been scheduled to begin at the start of February, yet these have not yet begun.

Any discussions have been delayed until after the second leg of the Champions League tie with Barcelona and the English champion’s league trip to Manchester City.

The Blues are enduring a tough campaign as they sit outside the Premier League’s top four following the weekend defeat to Manchester United.

The shot-stopper’s deal at Stamford Bridge expires in June 2019 but the Blues are said to be willing to pay him over £200,000 per week to ward off reported interest from Madrid.

Los Blancos are said to be keen to add a goalkeeper to their squad this summer to replace Keylor Navas as their number one.
