Two months out for Neymar?

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar is out of the Champions League last 16 tie against Real Madrid as he needs surgery on his ankle injury, say reports.

The 25-year-old sustained a fractured metatarsal and a sprained ankle after being injured in Sunday’s 3-0 win over Marseille in Ligue 1.

Marca follows up on a report in Globo Esporte which states the former Santos star is set to miss at least two months of action, but should return ahead of the World Cup.

The Parisian club stated on Monday he suffered “a sprain of the right ankle and fissure of the fifth metatarsal,” but gave no indication on a likely layoff timescale.

Neymar has scored 29 goals in 30 games since joining PSG from Barcelona in a world record €222m deal last summer.

Madrid win 3-1 from the first leg of the tie, with the second leg taking place in the Parc des Princes on 6 March.
