Neymar set to miss PSG-Madrid return

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar is likely to miss the Champions League last 16 tie against Real Madrid following the diagnosis of his ankle injury.

The 25-year-old sustained a fractured metatarsal and a sprained ankle after being injured in Sunday’s 3-0 win over Marseille in Ligue 1.

The Parisian club stated he suffered “a sprain of the right ankle and fissure of the fifth metatarsal,” but gave no indication on a likely layoff timescale.

Neymar has scored 29 goals in 30 games since joining PSG from Barcelona in a world record €222m deal last summer.

Madrid win 3-1 from the first leg of the tie, with the second leg taking place in the Parc des Princes on 6 March.
