Report: Gaitan set for China

Atletico Madrid winger Nicolas Gaitan is reportedly on his way to Chinese side Dalian Yigang in an €18m deal.

According to AS, Gaitan will put pen to paper on a three-year contract with Dalian, before travelling to China “in the next few hours” for a medical, having missed Atleti’s 5-2 win at Sevilla on Sunday.

However, the newspaper does not disclose whether this affects Yannick Carrasco’s proposed move to the club, given he plays in a similar position to his Argentine teammate.

Dalian are owned by billionaire Wang Jianlin, who owns 15 percent of Los Colchoneros and sponsors their Wanda Metropolitano stadium through his company, the Dalian Wanda Group.

The 30-year-old joined Atleti for €25m in the summer of 2016 from Benfica but has gone on to make just 49 appearances in little over 18 months.
