Atletico Madrid striker Kevin Gameiro has explained how his goal-scoring run is giving him more and more confidence.
The French striker has scored in each of his last three appearances – including both Europa League ties against FC Copenhagen – to take his tally for the season to nine.
“The goals are giving me confidence,” Gameiro is cited as saying by Diario AS.
“I am in a good condition physically and when you play well and when you score goals you gain confidence, and it helps to score different type of goals too.
“It is special to play in European competition, it is another platform to perform against different opposition and when Simeone told me I was playing I had to make sure I was ready.”
Gameiro’s future had previously been questioned following Diego Costa’s arrival at the Wanda Metropolitano.
