Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta claims his side were the better team against Barcelona at Stamford Bridge and should have won.
The Blues struck the post twice through Willian before the Brazilian opened the scoring, only for Lionel Messi to equalise after a defensive error from the home side.
“We were the better team and our gameplan almost paid off,” Azpilicueta is cited as saying by Marca.
“Of course, a 1-1 draw gives them a slight advantage due to an away goal but we knew the second leg would always be tough and we will need to find the balance between defending well and doing attacking damage.”
The second leg will take place at Camp Nou on 14 March.
