Asensio: Madrid have to keep going

Marco Asensio urged Real Madrid to maintain the form and spirit shown in coming from behind to beat Real Betis.

Asensio scored two of Madrid’s five goals at Benito Villamarin, opening the scoring then helping Los Blancos come from behind in an eight-goal thriller.

“We knew Betis played good football. We started well, they pressed and at half time we spoke about pushing higher up. The plan went well and we’re happy for the victory,” he said post-match, AS reports.

“They pressed well and found space. After half time we improved a lot and we played well. I think we’re in a good dynamic. We’re happy and we have to continue like this.”

Asensio was also asked about his goal celebrations, one of which saw him seek out ex-Betis player Dani Ceballos, who was one of the Madrid substitutes and received an unhappy welcome on his old stomping ground.

“The first was a bet with a friend who told me that if I scored, he would shave his head,” Asensio revealed.

“The second was for Dani, who is a friend of mine and I wanted to dedicate it to him.”
