Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos believes his team have as much to lose from their Champions League tie as Real Madrid.
The Ligue 1 leaders are likely to earn plenty of domestic success this campaign but their seasons are becoming increasingly defined by their performance on the European stage.
“Both teams have plenty to lose from this game as it is the trophy that sums up our campaigns,” Marquinhos told reporters, as cited by Marca.
“However, I can only talk about my own team and our only thoughts are on advancing into the next round, but I believe there will be a lot of goals and especially for PSG.
“We have worked a lot on improving since last season and from learning from the lessons against Barcelona at this stage last season.
“Our best match of last season was at home to Barca and the worst way the away game, but now we must show the same personality and courage in both legs.”
