Di Maria needs no Madrid motivation

Paris Saint-Germain winger Angel Di Maria has explained he does not need extra motivation for facing Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The Argentine recounted a letter sent by Los Blancos to the Argentine FA in the summer of 2014 which stated the AFA would be accountable for any injuries, while he left the club later that summer.

“I read the letter and then I tore it up,” Di Maria recalled in an interview with So Foot, as cited by Marca.

“Does that motivate me to play against them? No, because playing against Madrid is always a motivation for any player, and I am no different.

“Playing for Barcelona? I would have no problem with putting on a Barca shirt and representing them – I am no longer with Madrid, and my relationship with them ended some time ago.”

The 29-year-old spent one season at Manchester United after leaving the Bernabeu, before joining PSG in 2015.
