Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal will miss the first leg of the Champions League tie with Paris Saint-Germain after his suspension was upheld.
The full-back had been handed an additional one-match Champions League suspension for being booked deliberately against APOEL Nicosia, after missing the final group game with Borussia Dortmund.
The 25-year-old was charged by UEFA for “receiving a yellow card on purpose” after he was cautioned in the final minute of Zinedine Zidane’s side’s victory in Cyprus for time-wasting over a throw-in.
The UEFA Committee of Ethics and Discipline has upheld a two-match ban despite Madrid lodging an appeal over the decision.
Nacho Fernandez is now likely to start in this month’s first leg tie against the Ligue 1 leaders.
