Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid have both missed out on Racing club striker Lautaro Martinez, who is reportedly set to join Inter.

In December there were widespread that the 20-year-old had agreed to join Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2018, which had appeared to be confirmed by his agent.

According to Sportitalia, the Nerazzurri have clinched a €23m deal for the Argentine Under-20 striker, who is hopeful in winning a spot in his nation’s World Cup squad this year.

“There were many offers due to the previous buyout clause in my old contract,” Martinez was quoted as saying by Argentine outlet Tyc Sports last week.

“I always wanted to remain at this club, it was always my idea and right now my decision is the same.”

Martinez was also said to have attracted strong interest from Borussia Dortmund and Monaco, but signed a new deal with the Argentine outfit last year.
