Palmeiras delay Mina deal

Palmeiras are holding up the transfer of defender Yerry Mina to Barcelona as they haggle over a transfer fee, according to reports in Spain.

The two clubs had reportedly previously agreed a €9m deal for the 23-year-old to go through next summer, but Barca want to advance this signing due to Javier Mascherano’s imminent departure.

The Catalan giants were then said to have agreed a €12m deal to advance the signing to this month, but El Mundo Deportivo now state this may have been premature as the Brazilian club hold out for €3m more.

However, the reports continues that both clubs still fully expect a deal to be processed imminently and an agreement may even be reached today.

Mina moved to Palmeiras from Sante Fe last year and won the Brazilian League in his first season, while making its Team of the Year.

He also has nine caps for Colombia, scoring three goals.
