Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa is an injury doubt for Saturday’s La Liga clash against Getafe after sustaining a knock against Lleida on Wednesday.
The Spain international netted five minutes after coming off the bench and making his first professional appearance in eight months during the 4-0 Copa Del Rey victory.
However, the 29-year-old – a €62m signing from Chelsea – picked up an injury while scoring and despite completing the match, the club confirmed he had undergone scans.
“Diego Costa has recovered well from the knock taken to his leg which caused him problems in his knee,” read an Atletico Madrid club statement.
“Today our forward worked in the gym with the rest of his teammates, taking part in a recovery session and afterwards undergoing some scans.
“His availability depends on how the recovery goes.”
