Mariano open to future Madrid return

Olympique Lyonnais striker Mariano Diaz has not ruled out a future return to Real Madrid after leaving the Bernabeu this summer.

The Dominican Republic born striker has been in fine form this season, netting 14 goals for the French giants following his €8m summer move from Madrid.

“I would not rule out a future return to the club, why not?” Diaz told an interview with Marca.

“This is not a decision for me but for all the clubs involved and it is not an immediate issue, but yes one day it would be nice to return to Madrid.

“Right now I am happy at Lyon and the future is not at all on my mind, but hypothetically yes.

“If you look at recent results there have not been many goals but there is not a lack of goal threat at the club and soon the situation will change given their explosiveness up front.

“Benzema has much more to his game than just his goals but he does score a lot too, but at the minute their luck is not in.”
