Kepa ‘signs’ Madrid contract

Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has already signed a contract at Real Madrid but it is unclear when he will join, say reports in Spain.

The Spain international’s contract at the San Mames expires in June and he has been free to legally talk with other clubs from the beginning of January.

A report in Diario AS states their sources have seen the goalkeeper’s signed contracts with the Spanish and European champions, with a six-year deal agreed.

However, two join dates have been listed on the contract – both January and June – hinting that Madrid have not yet decided where to activate his €20m release clause in January or wait until the summer.

The newspaper’s sources also state that no move will be processed if the goalkeeper – who has struggled with injury this month – is not 100% fit.
