Barcelona are reportedly planning to offer Samuel Umtiti a new contract in order to ward off any interest from Premier League clubs.
The English Press reported on Saturday that both Manchester United and Manchester City were ready to activate Umtiti’s €60m release clause.
Despite the 24-year-old’s commitment to Barca not being in any doubt, Marca claims his clause has become a cause for concern, especially given Virgil van Dijk recently joined Liverpool for €85m.
Consequently, the newspaper expects talks over a renewal to commence “in the coming weeks”.
The Frenchman is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury and around a month away from returning.
