Real Madrid are reportedly among a clutch of clubs looking to poach promising midfielder Oriol Busquets from Barcelona.
According to AS, Busquets [pictured, right] – of no relation to Sergio in Barca’s first team – is out of contract next summer and has yet to agree an extension with the Catalans.
That would have opened the door to Madrid, whom AS claims “are continuing with their project to sign any young gem that stands out in Spanish football.”
Oriol, who turns 19 in January and is a Spain Under-19 international, made his debut for the Blaugrana’s seniors against Real Murcia in the Copa del Rey last month.
However, that remains his only appearance, and while the newspaper notes Barca are ‘calm’ about tying him down to a new deal, it adds there has also been interest from Serie A and the Premier League.
