Cristiano Ronaldo ‘trained alone and without the ball’ at Real Madrid training on Thursday, creating further doubts over his fitness for Saturday’s El Clasico.
The Portuguese star reportedly felt discomfort in his calf muscle after the Club World Cup final victory against Gremio last weekend, but it was widely believed he had fully recovered.
However, Madrid posted an update on their training situation on Thursday to state the 32-year-old ‘trained alone and without the ball’ that day.
On Wednesday, Los Blancos stated: “Cristiano Ronaldo trained apart from the rest of the group,” but provided no further details.
There had been speculation Ronaldo could start alongside Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema up front for Zinedine Zidane’s side for the first time since April but this has now been cast in doubt.
