Iniesta plays down El Clasico clash

Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta has played down the significance of Saturday’s El Clasico clash with Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

The Catalan giants hold an 11-point advantage over Zinedine Zidane’s side, although they have played a game more, although  Los Blancos lie behind both Atletico Madrid and Valencia in the standings.

“Honestly, I don’t think this game will be decisive,” Iniesta explained at Marca’s annual awards ceremony on Monday.

“You cannot say La Liga’s title race will be over in December, it is simply not true but it is true that if we are able to win at the Bernabeu it would be a huge step for us.

“We shouldn’t forget Atletico Madrid, who are only six points behind us or Valencia, but we are just focusing on the result on Saturday in a difficult location.”
