Diego Maradona claims Real Madrid should just “give Gareth Bale away” and reveals “I told Florentino Perez to sign Kylian Mbappe.”
In the second and final part of his interview with AS, Maradona also defended Karim Benzema’s role in Madrid’s attack and explained why he was unimpressed by Real Madrid and Barcelona.
“Madrid the best right now? I don’t think so… I don’t think either they or Barcelona are at their best right now,” continued the iconic No 10 to AS.
“PSG? No, they don’t satisfy me. They’re very dependent on Neymar, plus the goals of Cavani and Mbappe, who for me is the revelation of football.
“Is he the future? It seems to me that he can rise above many others. Madrid could’ve signed him.
“Why didn’t they sign him? I told Florentino to sign Mbappe, but he said he already had Cristiano.
“Bale? Let them sell Bale or give him away, although Florentino is less likely to give him away… but I think they had to sign Mbappe.
“Benzema’s role? There have always been players like him, players that wear down defenders, so that those who really have to score, do so. Am I fan? Absolutely.”
