Emery: Madrid tie a big opportunity

Paris Saint-Germain Coach Unai Emery believes the Champions League tie against Real Madrid is a ‘wonderful chance’ for his club.

The former Almeria, Valencia and Sevilla tactician sees his side pitted against the Spanish and European champions, having been eliminated in a 6-5 aggregate loss to Barcelona last season.

“This is not the worst possible draw and I believe we are now at a level where we can defeat Real Madrid,” Emery is quoted as saying by Diario AS.

“This club wants to do something massive in the Champions League and to do that you need to compete against and beat the top European sides.

“I believe this encounter will have the eyes on the football world on it, just as our tie last season against Barcelona did.

“I have a lot of knowledge on Madrid, how they play, their style and what the atmosphere in the Bernabeu is like, I also have a lot of friends in the Spanish capital.

“This tie is a wonderful chance for us to perform at the very highest level.”
