Atletico Madrid defender Stefan Savic is hoping his teammate Sime Vrsaljko will stay at the club as he believes he does not want a transfer.
The Croatian full-back has been linked with a move away from Los Rojiblancos with Napoli and Juventus reportedly interested but he started in Sunday’s 1-0 victory at Real Betis.
“He played really well and it was a performance that was important for him,” Savic told reporters, as quoted by Marca.
“Recently he has been very unfortunate as he has had a knee injury and then he picked up a back problem but he has fought back to be on the pitch.
“I believe he is an important player for us and it’s great for us to have players like Sime to come into the team and show what they can do.
“I don’t think he will leave the club, he has the quality to stay and I’m sure he wants to be here.”
