Vallejo out of Madrid CWC squad

Real Madrid have announced their 23-man squad for the Club World Cup, with defender Jesus Vallejo notably cut.

Vallejo played in the absence of Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane during Madrid’s 5-0 win against Sevilla on Saturday, but Zinedine Zidane confirmed after the game that he would stick with his initial party, which did not include the 20-year-old.

Travelling in his place is teenage goalkeeper Moha Ramos, who will deputise Keylor Navas and Kiko Casilla in the United Arab Emirates.

Varane and Gareth Bale are also part of the squad, despite the pair carrying injuries.

Madrid won the Club World Cup last season and will begin the defence of their title in Abu Dhabi against Al-Jazira on Wednesday.

Madrid squad for the Club World Cup: Keylor, Casilla, Moha; Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Nacho, Marcelo, Theo, Achraf; Kroos, Modric, Casemiro, Lucas Vazquez, Marcos Llorente, Asensio, Isco, Kovacic, Ceballos; Ronaldo, Benzema, Bale, Mayoral
