Arias: Sevilla control N’Zonzi future

Sevilla sporting director Oscar Arias insists the club is in total control over Steven N’Zonzi’s future, despite the player’s insistence he will leave.

The former Blackburn and Stoke midfielder said earlier this week that his future lay away from the club after being exploited from the last four matchday squads.

“Sales and player transfers are decisions which are not his call,” Arias told Radio Marca.

“These are decisions for the club and right now Steven N’Zonzi is a part of our team – not our starting line-up, but the group who are here.

“Nobody’s future is totally safe of course, not even mine, but we have been surprised by what he has been telling the media as he is a very important player for us.

“Right at this moment he does not fit in with the ideas of the Coach, but he is a fundamental player for us.”

N’Zonzi reportedly stormed out of the Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan after being substituted off at half-time in Sevilla’s 3-3 draw with Liverpool and has not featured since.
