Malaga have officially signed former Barcelona and Arsenal defender Ignasi Miquel on a three-and-a-half-year contract.
A statement on Malaga’s official website confirms Miquel can play right away after the club were granted an emergency signing to replace left-back Juankar, who was ruled out for the rest of the season with knee ligament damage.
The 25-year-old began his career with Barcelona, spending five years at La Masia, but turned professional at Arsenal.
He made 14 appearances for the Gunners and was farmed out on loan to Leicester City and Norwich City, before returning to Spain with Segunda outfit Ponferradina.
Miquel joined Lugo, another second-tier side, last year and has played a key role in their run to second place this season.
