Vrsaljko demands Atleti exit

Defender Sime Vrsaljko has told Atletico Madrid he wants to leave the club in January amid interest from Italian league leaders Napoli, say reports.

A report in Marca states the Croat has informed Los Rojiblancos he wishes to leave the club after less than 18 months at the club.

The future of the 25-year-old remains uncertain and the Madrid-based club may only sanction a sale if they can reinforce their defence in January, when their player registration ban is lifted.

Vrsaljko has only started 13 La Liga matches since joining Los Rojiblancos last summer from Sassuolo, with Juanfran preferred in the right-back slot.

A report in Il Mattino last week stated the Italian league leaders are prepared to pay up to €14m for the full-back, who formerly played in Serie A for Genoa and Sassuolo.
