Wenger: Cazorla injury the worst ever

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has described Santi Cazorla’s Achilles injury as the ‘worst he has ever known’.

The playmaker has sat out over a year of action after suffering the injury in a Champions League match, and revealed earlier this month how doctors had told him he would be lucky to walk again.

“Yes this is the worst injury I’ve ever known,” Wenger said, as reported by Football.London.

“It’s gone from worse to worse. I know how much Santi loves to play football.

“I wish (he returns in January). He tries to practice. I hope he comes back in January.

“I hope that you are wrong (that he might not play again).”

The 32-year-old joined the Gunners in 2012 after a spell with Malaga.
