Asensio: Scorers don’t matter

Marco Asensio insists it doesn’t matter who scores for Real Madrid as long as someone does after he netted in the win over Las Palmas.

Asensio scored a spectacular effort in the victory against the islanders, with Casemiro and Isco also on the scoresheet but Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema both again drew blanks, though Zinedine Zidane says he has faith in the pair to start scoring again soon.

“We are a team, we don’t look at who scores the goal or gives the assist. We’re all paddling in the same direction,” Asensio said, Marca reports, before he expanded on his goal, his role in the team and was questioned as to his favourite strike for Madrid.

“My goal was another good goal, I was able to catch it well. I was there for the rebound and was able to put it in. It was a great goal.

“Las Palmas are a good team, they have the ball a lot. We improved in the second half and we got forward more easily and were able to score those two goals.

“The Coach is confident in all the team and you can’t always be a starter. You have to keep working and with games like this one, things will go well.

“My best goal for Madrid is one I haven’t seen yet. Maybe the two against Barcelona in the Supercopa.”
