Barca rule out January Mina deal?

Barcelona have ruled out the possibility of signing Colombian international defender Yerry Mina in January, according to reports.

Spanish media had speculated the Brazilian-based central defender could arrive in January with Ernesto Valverde keen to strengthen his central defensive options.

However, neither Javier Mascherano or Thomas Vermaelen is likely to leave in winter – according to Marca – and that means any movement in that position will have to wait until the end of the season.

It is reported the two clubs have agreed a €9m fee for a summer move and any rescheduling of such a deal would lead to further negotiating.

Mina moved to Palmeiras from Sante Fe last year and won the Brazilian League in his first season, while making its Team of the Year.

He also has nine caps for Colombia, scoring three goals.
