Carrera: Playing Sevilla always difficult

Spartak Moscow Coach Massimo Carrera admitted after losing to Sevilla ‘it was always going to be difficult’ for his side.

The Russians went down to a 2-1 defeat at the Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan – where no visiting side has won in the calendar year – after defeating the Andalucians 5-1 just a fortnight ago.

“This game was always going to be difficult,” Carrera told reporters after the game, as quoted by Estadio Deportivo.

“They are a well-drilled unit with quality players and are experienced at this level, they know how to win games like this.

“It was a shame for us to put in that first half performance as it made things very difficult and we improved after the break, but it wasn’t enough.

“We must forget about this game, as we did our 5-1 win, and concentrate on our two remaining fixtures against Maribor and Liverpool.

“It was good for us to have fans inside the stadium (after a previous ban on the club’s travelling support) they helped us and we can rely on them.”
