Atletico Madrid have reportedly agreed a €40m deal with Sampdoria for the transfer of highly-rated midfielder Lucas Torreira, according to reports.
Diego Simeone’s are said to be keen to bolster their squad in January after an 18-month FIFA-imposed transfer ban and have already agreed deals for Vitolo and Diego Costa.
Now the Uruguayan is also set for a move to the Spanish capital, with Goal.com reporting his impressive start to the season will make him Samp’s all-time record sale.
The 21-year-old midfielder has started all 10 of the Italian side’s Serie A games this season – netting twice – in his second full season at the club after a stint with Pescara.
Torreira would join fellow countrymen Diego Godin and Jose Maria Gimenez at the Wanda Metropolitano, should a deal go through.
