Parejo wants long-term Valencia stay

Valencia captain Dani Parejo hopes to stay at the club ‘for many years’ and rejected speculation he wanted a move to Barcelona.

Reports in Spain over the summer had suggested the midfielder – who had previously been linked with Sevilla – would leave the Mestalla.

“That wasn’t the case, it was the opposite actually,” Parejo told Marca when asked if he had tried to force through a move to the Camp Nou.

“Valencia has been the club of nearly the entirety of my career and I owe both them and the city a lot, I will not behave in a poor manner against them as they have given me everything.

“Will I ever leave? I hope that it will be a long way away if I do and I want to stay here for many years, I am very happy.

“If Barcelona want a player they will come in and pay his release clause then if the player wishes to leave with the contract on offer, he will.”
