Valencia captain Dani Parejo has revealed he has lost more than 5kg since Coach Marcelino arrived at the club this summer.
The 28-year-old hailed the impact of his new manager not just on his fitness issues but also for his work on shaping and improving the team.
“I’ve lost five and a half kilos since Marcelino arrived,” Parejo told an interview with Diario AS.
“I feel really good now and maybe I didn’t at the start, I felt hungry and not too great, but that’s because your body becomes used to certain foods and when they go it’s a psychological thing.
“Now I feel quicker and that I have greater agility now than I did beforehand, so I’m thankful for the dietary changes and they’re paying off.
“Marcelino has done so much in a short space of time, he has given us new ideas of playing and transformed us, and his preparation is so thorough.
“He is my reference for Coaching alongside Ernesto Valverde and whilst I watch and have played a lot of football, you sometimes notice something difference with a real shift.
“Marcelino’s system is highly-prepared and defined, he is absolutely certain in what he wants and every player is clear in this approach.
“We must defend as a unit and if we lose the ball everyone drops back and fights for it, and we also attack in numbers and with freedom.”
