Dani Carvajal has recovered from a heart condition following treatment but is not yet ready to return to action, Zinedine Zidane has confirmed.
The Spanish international was diagnosed with pericarditis – a viral infection affecting the membrane enclosing his heart, which is incredibly rare and difficult to treat.
“Dani is doing well and the result of the tests is good news,” Zidane told reporters.
“He has been cycling today and whilst he is healthy there is a recovery process he must go through and we will and see how that goes.
“Bale? Gareth has been out on the pitch, he is on the verge of returning to first team training but still we cannot give a date for that.”
Carvajal only recently signed a new contract with Madrid until June 2022 with 18-year-old Moroccan Achraf Hakimi covering in his absence.
