Kevin Gameiro is ‘not afraid’ of staying at Atletico Madrid and competing for a place in the starting eleven, he has revealed.
The Frenchman, who scored Atleti’s winner at Celta Vigo on Sunday, is rumoured to be up for sale at the club due to January arrival of Diego Costa.
“I am at a great club with lots of competition for places,” Gameiro told Diario AS.
“Everybody has to compete to earn a starting place at the club and I am not worried about that at this moment, I am not afraid.
“Right now, I’m not at 100% and I need to work on this to make sure I am on top of my game, then I can think about myself and my importance.”
Gameiro has netted 17 goals in 50 appearances for Diego Simeone’s side since his transfer from Sevilla in August 2016.
