Mauricio Pochettino believes Hugo Lloris showed he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday.
Cristiano Ronaldo had levelled from the penalty spot in Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-1 Champions League draw with Real Madrid after a Raphael Varane own goal had given the Londoners the lead.
However, Spurs had French stopper Lloris to thank for pulling off several brilliant stops, the best of them with his legs from a point-blank Karim Benzema header that denied his countryman.
“I think Hugo was fantastic and his performance today is one that deserves praise from everyone,” Pochettino told reporters afterwards.
“Sometimes in the Premier League we talk and I tell you that Hugo Lloris is one of the best around and today you got to see why.
“I’ve said it lots of times that Hugo is one of the best in the world.”
