Neymar’s €3m Ballon d’Or bonus

French newspaper Le Parisien has revealed what Neymar will earn if the Paris Saint-Germain star ends up winning the Ballon d’Or.

PSG paid Barcelona a world record €222m for the Brazilian at the start of this season and his contract it alleged to have a large clause in it if he is successful.

The player has a contract with the Ligue 1 giants until 2022 and every time he wins the award before then he will receive an extra €3m.

The French club believe it would be good to reinforce their image on the world stage and are reported to have said ‘it is always a pleasure to pay a bonus clause as the Ballon d’Or represents extraordinary added value’.

Neymar finished third in the voting in 2015, behind former Barca teammate Lionel Messi and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo, and is again one of the frontrunners for the award this year despite the pair standing ahead of him.
