Zizou’s ‘green light’ for Kepa

Zinedine Zidane has given ‘the green light’ for Real Madrid to sign Athletic Bilbao Kepa Arrizabalaga next summer, according to reports in Spain.

The Spain international’s deal at the San Mames expires next summer and according to Marca ‘negotiations for a renewed deal have badly stuttered’ at the Basque club.

The 23-year-old would become the number one at the Bernabeu, according to the report, although contradicting reports in Marca earlier this month claimed he was close to a new deal at Athletic.

However, fresh reports on Thursday say Madrid’s goalkeeping coach Luis Llopis, a former employee at San Mames, has driven the Spanish champions interest in a deal.

Such a move would signal the end of the club’s pursuit of Manchester United’s David De Gea and would also mean a move awa for long-term number one Keylor Navas is likely.
