Six pitch invaders detained

The Israeli FA have denied reports in Spain suggesting one of the six pitch invaders during Monday’s World Cup qualifier in Jerusalem was carrying a knife.

Marca picks up on a report on Israeli website Ynet which suggests one of the invaders, who was running in Isco’s direction, dropped a knife on the pitch before police intercepted him.

However, the Israeli FA communications director then contacted Marca to state those suggestions were 'totally false'.

In total, six fans in attendance passed the stadium’s security and entered the field of play before eventually being arrested by police.

“There were no security incidents,” a police spokesperson told EFE.

“Our usual security measures were carried out, during and after the game.”

Spain won the match 1-0 with Asier Illarramendi’s second half strike enough to earn Julen Lopetegui’s side the victory in Israel.
