Real Madrid will face Auckland City, Al-Jazira or the Asian champions in the Club World Cup semi-finals this year.
Al-Jazira, from host nation United Arab Emirates, will face New Zealand side Auckland City in the playoff to face the Asian champions – which will be decided in November.
The Asian Cup semi-finals comprise of Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG, alongside Iranian team Persepolis, Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds and Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia.
Madrid and the Libertadores champions (the final of which will be in November) – who will face Pachuca or the African champions, yet to be decided – will join in at the semi-final stage.
Los Blancos won last season’s final in Japan with a 4-2 win over Kashima Antlers.
