Iniesta renews with Barca ‘for life’

Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta has renewed his deal at the club by signing a new contract ‘for life’, the club has confirmed.

The Blaugrana confirmed the news in a brief statement on Friday morning with a press conference scheduled for later in the day to confirm the news.

“FC Barcelona and Andres Iniesta have reached an agreement for the lifelong renewal of the contract that binds both parties together,” read the statement.

“The official signing will take place today at 12.30pm (CET) at El President Sunol in the Camp Nou.”

The 33-year-old’s previous deal at the Camp Nou had been due to expire at the end of the current campaign, with rumours suggesting he could join Italian champions Juventus next summer.

Iniesta initially joined the Catalan club as a 12-year-old in 1996 and has won 28 major trophies including eight La Liga titles and four Champions League crowns.
