Navas: Ronaldo much more than goals

Keylor Navas has downplayed Cristiano Ronaldo’s goalscoring form in La Liga and believes it is overshadowing other elements of his game.

The Portuguese forward has not yet netted in La Liga this season – although he missed five games through suspension – and has scored five goals in other competitions, including four in the Champions League.

“Ronaldo is fine, he played very well” Navas told El Transistor radio show on Sunday evening after Real Madrid’s clash with Espanyol.

“He assisted Isco (for the first goal) and consistently passed to players in better positions, he also did strong defensive work so there is no need to analyse him more.

“The contributions he made during the game should be valued as goals and I said before, he is a very important player for us.

“People try to find problems when he doesn’t score but he has scored in important games and brings so much more.”
