Marco Asensio has agreed a new six-year contract with Real Madrid to tie him to the Spanish champions until June 2023.
The 21-year-old’s previous deal at the Bernabeu was set to expire in June 2020 but now he follows Marcelo, Isco, Dani Carvajal, Karim Benzema and Marcos Llorente in committing their long-term futures to Los Blancos.
The gifted forward has been afforded rising prominence in Madrid’s first team this calendar year and has been afforded increasing game-time ahead of Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema.
Asensio, who signed from Real Mallorca in 2014, enjoyed his most successful season to date in the last campaign as he netted in the Champions League final, which Madrid added to their La Liga crown.
This season he has scored four goals in 10 appearances for Zinedine Zidane’s side.
