Denis Suarez wants ‘to fight’ at Barca

Denis Suarez reveals he had ‘no doubts’ about staying at Barcelona this summer despite receiving offers from ‘two other clubs’.

The former Sevilla and Villarreal loanee was linked with a move away from the Camp Nou this summer with Napoli and Roma both among the sides rumoured to be interested in signing him.

However, despite not featuring regularly under previous Coach Luis Enrique, the 23-year-old has been afforded more opportunities under Ernesto Valverde.

“There were no doubts in my mind about staying,” Suarez told RAC1.

“There were offers from two clubs but I never thought about leaving as I have no desire to move from this club.

“I believe I will be given chances at this club with the Coach’s faith and I have to continue fighting for the chances and opportunities which I am confident I will receive.

“The situation at the club is better than last year and not only have we changed our way of playing but training is going very well.

“Valverde’s personality is totally different to Luis Enrique – he thinks clearly and his tranquillity and relaxation is transmitted to the players every day.

“We’re improving all the time and it was unthinkable we would be seven points clear (of Real Madrid in La Liga) after just six games but we can only focus on ourselves.

“It’s not only the results which are good but also the dynamic, we are playing well – it has been the perfect start to the season.”
