OFFICIAL: Atleti sign Diego Costa

Atletico Madrid have officially completed the signing of striker Diego Costa from Chelsea.

Costa rejoins Atleti on loan until the end of the season, prior to signing a three-and-a-half year contract with the club, in a deal reportedly worth up to €60m.

“Diego Costa is now a Rojiblancos player,” read a statement on Los Colchoneros’ website.

“Atletico Madrid and Chelsea have agreed terms on the transfer of the player to our club.

“The international striker signed his contract after he successfully underwent a medical, which he completed in two phases last Saturday and on Monday.

“He will start training with the team tomorrow, but his registration will not go through until the the transfer window reopens on January 1.”

The 29-year-old won a Copa del Rey and La Liga with Atleti in his first stint, before joining Chelsea in 2014.

He won two more League titles at Stamford Bridge, scoring 59 goals in 120 appearances, but has not made an appearance this season after being exiled by Blues boss Antonio Conte.
