Spain Coach Julen Lopetegui has called on Diego Costa to return to training and resolve his club feature to put himself back in the international frame.
The 28-year-old striker was left out of Lopetegui’s Spanish squad for the recent World Cup qualifiers against Italy and Liechtenstein, with his club future currently in limbo and not training.
“We aren’t angry, it’s a complicated situation,” Lopetegui explained on BeIn Sports.
“His summer has been very strange and it’s an unusual situation, not just for him but also for Chelsea.
“We hope the issue is resolved as quickly as possible and he is in a position to be in full training and playing, which is what he and we want from the situation.
“He wasn’t ready to play in our recent matches but that was the reality which we had to deal with and that is the only reason he wasn’t with us.”
